Jardin des soeurs
A garden that pays homage to bygone times and can still be enjoyed today… Following in the footsteps of Marguerite D’Youville and the Grey Nuns, the Manoir’s team has revitalized the vegetable garden 250 years later, drawing inspiration from ancestral practices used by the natives and reminiscent of permaculture.
In keeping with Manoir D’Youville’s mission, the garden is maintained with the help of employees from the Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux de la Montérégie-Ouest (CISSSMO) work integration program, who live with an intellectual disability or autism disorder.
Strawberries, tomatoes, beans and squash, carrots, beets, lettuces, spinach and fine herbs… Even the array of vegetables and fruit grown here and cooked at the manoir’s restaurant and La Traite bistro is a tribute to the island’s heritage!
We’ve selected the same vegetables that Marguerite-D’Youville used on the Island to feed the Montreal General Hospital.
